October 20, 2025 – The School of Software Engineering at Chengdu University of Information Technology successfully held an International Exchange Seminar and an academic lecture on cutting-edge technologies. The event featured Professor Jean-Philippe PERNOT from ENSAM (France) and Professor Lü Zhe, Canadian Academy of Engineering Fellow and professor at Suzhou University of Science and Technology, as keynote guests, facilitating in-depth exchanges on advanced topics including digital models, reverse engineering, and precision measurement.
The morning International Exchange Seminar began with a welcome address by Professor Tang Dan, Dean of the School. Professor He Lei then provided a systematic overview of the school's discipline development, faculty strength, and research platforms. Professor PERNOT introduced ENSAM and the research achievements of the LISPEN laboratory in digital engineering and geometric representation. Professor Lü Zhe elaborated on the disciplinary features and research progress of the School of Electronic and Information Engineering at Suzhou University of Science and Technology. During the collaboration discussion, both sides held productive talks on joint PhD training, research project cooperation, and academic exchanges, laying a foundation for deeper international collaboration.

The afternoon academic lecture continued with Professor PERNOT delivering a presentation titled "New Paradigms for Advanced Generation and Processing of Digital Models and Reverse Engineering." He detailed his innovative work in computer-aided design, mesh processing, digital twins, and AI-empowered design processes, also sharing his experience supervising PhD students funded by the China Scholarship Council (CSC). Professor Lü Zhe then presented on "Intelligent Research in Precision Dimensional Measurement," highlighting key technological breakthroughs in high-precision 3D vision imaging, robot calibration, and visual tracking. The session featured lively interaction and a strong academic atmosphere.

Professor PERNOT shared his research topics
This event fostered in-depth dialogue between the university and leading international scholars, opening new pathways for the school's development in the interdisciplinary field of software engineering and smart manufacturing, particularly in discipline building, research collaboration, and talent cultivation. Importantly, the meeting established a solid collaborative bridge between Chengdu University of Information Technology, ENSAM, and Suzhou University of Science and Technology. The parties reached preliminary consensus on jointly applying for national-level international research projects, establishing a two-way PhD training mechanism, and building joint laboratories. Looking ahead, they are committed to promoting substantive cooperation in cutting-edge areas such as digital twins and intelligent inspection, working together to build a sustainable and mutually beneficial platform for international academic exchange and scientific research innovation.
